The Institute of Licensing National Training Conference

Stamp Out Spiking’s CEO, Dawn Dines, recently attended the Institute of Licensing (IoL) National Training Conference as a panelist to spotlight an urgent issue: the need for spiking awareness education for Licensing Officers who oversee licensed venues. The conference, held on Wednesday, November 13th, provided a vital platform for Dawn to discuss the rising concern around spiking incidents and the role Licensing Officers can play in mitigating this issue. 

In her panel session, Dawn emphasized the importance of empowering Licensing Officers with the knowledge and tools to identify, report, and prevent spiking incidents effectively. Licensed venues are popular social hubs, but they are also places where people are vulnerable to the dangers of spiking. Dawn’s message highlighted that with adequate spiking awareness education, Licensing Officers can make informed decisions when reviewing venue licenses, ensuring that safety is a top priority. 

Dawn shared insights into the tools and resources developed by Stamp Out Spiking, such as training programs and educational materials designed specifically to raise awareness about spiking and its potential consequences. By educating Licensing Officers, Stamp Out Spiking aims to equip them with strategies to foster safer environments in bars, clubs, and other licensed venues. 

The IoL conference provided a unique opportunity for industry leaders to engage with the issue of spiking from a regulatory perspective.
