2025 Victim’s Journey Reseach Project

In partnership with Cardiff University’s Security, Crime and Intelligence Institute, Stamp Out Spiking are conducting the largest and most comprehensive piece of research in the UK on spiking.

1st round results of this survey is due to be released in November 2025.

2024 : Spiking: Identifying challenges and tackling them together

On 15th July 2024, the University of Birmingham hosted a workshop on Spiking at the Exchange in  Birmingham City Centre. Delivered in collaboration with the charity Stamp Out Spiking and with the support of the Office for the Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands, this event welcomed colleagues from a wide range of organisations to come together to talk about spiking locally.

2022 : NPCC research into spiking reporting

Police forces in England and Wales shared spiking reports with the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) between September 2021 and September 2022. Nearly 5,000 cases of needle and drink spiking incidents were reported as forces across the country stepped up their focus on tackling the issue.

2021 : Spiking amongst students and safety in venues

To support work on alcohol and drug cultures amongst students, in November 2021 the Student’s Organising for Sustainability investigated experiences of spiking alongside the desire for action from education institutions by students in the UK.

2021 : StopTopps Research Project

In 2021, StopTopps ran a national survey with the aim to find out how prevalent

drink spiking really is, where it happens, whether people are reporting it and, if not,

why not. This survey ran over a 3-month period with a total of 369 respondents.
