Delayed but not forgotten…
Politics has been in chaos in the last few months, with cabinet ministers changing every few weeks and in all the changes the deadline for the Home Office to give feedback to the House of Commons on the progress towards creating a separate criminal offence for spiking has slid by with no decision.
We at Stamp Out Spiking are not letting up on the need for this decision to be made and would like to extend our gratitude to the Home Affairs Committee Chair Dame Diana Johnson MP, for writing to the Home Secretary Suella Braverman this week asking for answers as to when this decision will be made.
In a letter dated 3 November from Dame Diana Johnson MP (Committee Chair) to Suella Braverman MP, the Home Affairs Committee demands an update on when the Government’s response to its recommendations for spiking will be received.
The letter also directly asks whether the Committee’s recommendation for a communication campaign, which the Government had said it would consider as part of the ongoing ‘Enough’ campaign, was undertaken.
The Home Affairs Committee usually expects a response from the Government within 10 days of its letters.
